Alternative Pitch Fever

UPDATE 05/07: Many thanks to Lee for his help…The polls are now up! You’ve got one vote for pitches/synopses and one vote for the loglines on their own. Let voting commence!——————————————————————————– Well, here they all are folks… Your loglines and synopses in all their glory! I had to guess with a few re: genre btw because you forgot to tell me… Should be interesting to see if expectations “marry up”. By all means leave feedback for the contestants, but please make sure it’s constructive criticism. If you’re not sure what constitutes criticism being constructive and are worried about treading on… Read More »Alternative Pitch Fever

More Stuff: Life, Contests, A Question and Naked Googlers

I had a rubbish week last week. If I hadn’t lived it, I would have thought it was one of those bad rom-coms where everything goes wrong for the protagonist in Act 1, culminating in the ultimate cliche of getting home early from work and finding your wife in bed with another bloke. Luckily I was spared this, since I don’t have a wife and I work from home, but hey ho. But this week is another week and I have many plans. I got ten rejections last week, working out at approximately 2 a day (though I got 3… Read More »More Stuff: Life, Contests, A Question and Naked Googlers

Pitch Bitch

First off, well done to all you enterprising bloggers and surfers who have entered the Bang2write Pitch Fest, due to go out this Wednesday, July 4th. Secondly – where the hell are the rest of you?!?* I haven’t counted them all yet, but we have UNDER 20 entries. Since I know in the region of 500 of you entered Fever Pitch so MUST have a logline and synopsis floating around, this is a SCANDAL! I know some of you don’t like the idea of sticking stuff up on the ‘net in case peeps nick your ideas. Get over this. You… Read More »Pitch Bitch

Well, it would seem the sisters are doing it for themselves… Of the eleven people who have entered our alternative Fever Pitch so far (one of them being me and one other twice!), only three are fellas! Come on guys! Yes, yes, the deadline’s tomorrow, I know – you need to tweak, I get it. Power to the peeps!) and those of you who didn’t make the deadline. Same… Read More »Expose Yourself

…We can do better!!! That’s right. Been rejected from Fever Pitch?? Worry not. We’re having our own pitching session. Right here, on er… Write Now. Anyone can enter! That includes my lovely American Readers and those people who’ve been reading my blog in Turkish last week. Anyone! Rejected

Only one word for it: nut wranglers. Ok, two. At least I won’t have to kill Andy though, since I won’t be seeing him there… There is a silver lining after all.

25 Words or Less: The Debate

For those of you who don’t read the Shooting People List any more because of the amount of cyber whining that seems to go on, there’s a “debate” raging at the moment about whether it’s fair that the UK Film Council exclude non-repped writers from the 25 Words or Less Scheme. Oh, and yet another accusation has been levvied at Adrian Mead. I love Shooting People, it’s a fabulous resource, yet people are being put off posting – even their grammar and spelling is under scrutiny! This is crazy. Anyway, I waded in this morning: you know me, I can’t… Read More »25 Words or Less: The Debate

Competition

I got an email from a chap called Rory at the beginning of this week complaining that this screenwriting blog talks too much about screenwriting and not enough about novel writing. Sorry about that. So, in the interests of fairness, I decided to look for a few competitions on short stories since I know a lot of you out in www.land like to write them. This one, near me, may be of interest: Twyford Writers third annual short story writing competition Closing date: 30th June 2007 Twyford Writers is proud to announce the third annual short story writing competition on… Read More »Competition

Goodie Bags

Blogging is a great advertising tool, but I decided to start my new tax year with a “push forward” on the script reading front now I’m retiring from teaching for good (Yay!). So, if like me, you salivate at stationary (I know the lovely Mark Greig certainly does), then I am offering the FIRST THREE PEOPLE TO EMAIL ME the chance to win a Bang2write Goodie Bag! In it are Bang2write post-it notes (oooooh), a magnet (aaaah), acknowledgement postcards (wooooh), stickers and even a discount voucher for script reading (eeeee)! So, first three then, email me with your snail mail… Read More »Goodie Bags

Round Up

Right, two things in one since I have several beers with my name on. And a couple of eggs left over from Easter (I know! Where HAS this sudden self control come from?! They will be devoured tonight, don’t you worry my little chickadees). BSSC short went off in the post, but pretty sure it hasn’t a hope in hell. Why? Because I have been deliberately OUT THERE with my premise – think ADAPTATION meets EDTV in ten minutes and you’re probably there. In retrospect, perhaps I should have written the more standard fare of some bird recalling a traumatic… Read More »Round Up
