Things To Do This Weekend

Well, it looks sunny today…which means it’ll rain like hell tomorrow, ‘cos it’s the weekend, natch. So with this in mind, I have worked out a few things you can do this saturday and sunday: Enter The Red Planet Prize. You have to have been living on Mars not to have heard of this, even if you didn’t make it to The Screenwriters’ Festival. The Lovely David and Helen have already blogged about it, so I won’t repeat them, but deadline’s not ’til September, it’s email entry so no trees need die and there’s 5000 squid up for grabs and… Read More »Things To Do This Weekend

Alternative Pitch Fever

UPDATE 05/07: Many thanks to Lee for his help…The polls are now up! You’ve got one vote for pitches/synopses and one vote for the loglines on their own. Let voting commence!——————————————————————————– Well, here they all are folks… Your loglines and synopses in all their glory! I had to guess with a few re: genre btw because you forgot to tell me… Should be interesting to see if expectations “marry up”. By all means leave feedback for the contestants, but please make sure it’s constructive criticism. If you’re not sure what constitutes criticism being constructive and are worried about treading on… Read More »Alternative Pitch Fever

More Stuff: Life, Contests, A Question and Naked Googlers

I had a rubbish week last week. If I hadn’t lived it, I would have thought it was one of those bad rom-coms where everything goes wrong for the protagonist in Act 1, culminating in the ultimate cliche of getting home early from work and finding your wife in bed with another bloke. Luckily I was spared this, since I don’t have a wife and I work from home, but hey ho. But this week is another week and I have many plans. I got ten rejections last week, working out at approximately 2 a day (though I got 3… Read More »More Stuff: Life, Contests, A Question and Naked Googlers

Pitch Bitch

First off, well done to all you enterprising bloggers and surfers who have entered the Bang2write Pitch Fest, due to go out this Wednesday, July 4th. Secondly – where the hell are the rest of you?!?* I haven’t counted them all yet, but we have UNDER 20 entries. Since I know in the region of 500 of you entered Fever Pitch so MUST have a logline and synopsis floating around, this is a SCANDAL! I know some of you don’t like the idea of sticking stuff up on the ‘net in case peeps nick your ideas. Get over this. You… Read More »Pitch Bitch

Expose Yourself

Well, it would seem the sisters are doing it for themselves… Of the eleven people who have entered our alternative Fever Pitch so far (one of them being me and one other twice!), only three are fellas! Come on guys! Yes, yes, the deadline’s tomorrow, I know – you need to tweak, I get it. For those of you who have just dropped by and think I’ve gone mad, I’m running my own version of Fever Pitch for all you lovely rejectees (all 590 of us! Power to the peeps!) and those of you who didn’t make the deadline. Same… Read More »Expose Yourself

Anything They Can Do…

…We can do better!!! That’s right. Been rejected from Fever Pitch?? Worry not. We’re having our own pitching session. Right here, on er… Write Now. Anyone can enter! That includes my lovely American Readers and those people who’ve been reading my blog in Turkish last week. Anyone! Here’s the deal: 1) Post your logline and pitch on your own blog and send me the link or, if you have no blog, put it on a google/webhosting page and email its link to me OR if you have no knowledge of how to do this, send me your pitch/synopsis and I’ll… Read More »Anything They Can Do…

Rejected

Only one word for it: nut wranglers. Ok, two. At least I won’t have to kill Andy though, since I won’t be seeing him there… There is a silver lining after all.

Goodie Bags

Blogging is a great advertising tool, but I decided to start my new tax year with a “push forward” on the script reading front now I’m retiring from teaching for good (Yay!). So, if like me, you salivate at stationary (I know the lovely Mark Greig certainly does), then I am offering the FIRST THREE PEOPLE TO EMAIL ME the chance to win a Bang2write Goodie Bag! In it are Bang2write post-it notes (oooooh), a magnet (aaaah), acknowledgement postcards (wooooh), stickers and even a discount voucher for script reading (eeeee)! So, first three then, email me with your snail mail… Read More »Goodie Bags

Debating

When I was growing up I had to live in a cardboard box! Luxury! When I was growing up, I had to walk three hundred miles to school and then do a full day’s work down the coal mine! Luxury! When I was growing up, my father killed us before we were even born! Aaaah. Ol’ Monty P there, but I love a good scrap, me (who’d have thought it??), so if you do too, click here and tell me your thoughts about the state of education today. Go on, you know you want to…

Now I’M looking – for Geeks, that is

Hello my pretties. Quick query today re: this computer stuff (so if you know nowt, like lil’ ol’ me, tune out, you know you want to.) I want to do two things but don’t know where to start with either of them. a) I want to put a sitemeter on my other blog. (I know I have one here, but no idea how it got there, presumably someone else did it – or it’s a gift from the sitemeter fairy and in which case, ta very much but can I have another one please?). b) I want to upload documents… Read More »Now I’M looking – for Geeks, that is

Directors etc Looking For Screenplays

If you want to find somewhere to send your unsolicited manuscripts, you could do worse than adding this blog Hollywood Screenplays to your favourites and/or links. Apparently it’s a re-launch of a website of the same name, only in blogform; Chris reliably informs us over on Robin’s blog he remembers a few success stories and “no horror stories”. Worth a try, anyway: gotta be in it to win it, no such thing as failure except not giving it a go, blah blah >INSERT CLICHE HERE
