1) You Just Have to Write Down Ideas

Way before I started writing full time, I always found myself coming up with new ideas for stories and articles. 2) You Cancel Life Plans to Write

Another big realisation for me. When I started to write, I fell head over heels in love with the process. I couldn’t stop myself from writing literally all the time!

I cancelled everything. I called into work sick to write instead. I skipped lunch with friends and family to write. Most ashamedly, I even missed my best friend’s wedding to write.

Sure, I have a better work/life balance these days. But at the time, writing was all I wanted to do. If you have this same urge, it’s a telltale sign you’re a writer at heart.

3) You Read and Read and Read

Writing and reading go hand in hand. If you want to be a good writer, you need to read all the time because …

  1. You’re examining how other writers work
  2. Breaking down how stories are told

Writers tend to have a natural sense of curiosity that they take with them throughout life. They look at life from all angles and try to keep an open mind while understanding all points of view.

Writers thrive on new experiences. Even just conversations with new people are interesting! It’s a way of introducing themselves to new experiences and new ideas.

Writers are frequently people who observe the world and dive into new experiences. They will also keep a watchful eye on how events unfold, too. They will work out the connections between people, places, and experiences. Is this a trait you hold?

5) You Prefer Writing!

If you constantly find yourself saying that you find it ‘easier’ to write what you want to say (than actually say it) then knock knock, guess what: you’re probably a writer!

Whether choosing text over phone calls, emails over meetings, or even writing down your thoughts because you’re trying to get them in check before having a needed conversation, you’re writing. Doesn’t that say it all? MORE: 10 Quick & Easy Tips To Boost Your Writing
